Guard lengths

Bars are drawn to scale. Highlighted bars are the five guards you can preview on your own photo.

  1. #0
    1.5 mm / 1/16"Preview

No guard. Skin-close, scalp visible everywhere. Head shape is fully on show.

  2. #1
    3 mm / 1/8"Preview

Scalp still shows through. Reads as almost shaved from across a room.

  3. #2
    6 mm / 1/4"Preview

The classic buzz. Scalp shows faintly, the length most people ask for.

  4. #3
    10 mm / 3/8"

Even and short, scalp hidden in most light.

  5. #4
    13 mm / 1/2"Preview

Soft and dense. A forgiving first buzz for thick hair.

  6. #5
    16 mm / 5/8"

Still uniform, with visible texture on top.

  7. #6
    19 mm / 3/4"

Hair starts to lie down instead of standing up.

  8. #7
    22 mm / 7/8"

Close to a crop. Curls begin to form on coily hair.

  9. #8
    25 mm / 1"Preview

One inch. The longest all-over length that still reads as a buzz.

Questions

What would I look like with a buzz cut?

Upload a front-facing selfie and the buzz cut filter renders your own face at each guard length, from #0 to #8. Compare them side by side; your first guard is free.

Will it still look like me?

Yes. The tool changes the hair on your head and nothing else. Face, skin, beard, glasses, clothes and background stay as they are.

How accurate are the guard lengths?

Each guard is rendered from its real length in millimetres, and longer guards always come out longer. Treat it as a close preview, not a measurement.

What happens to my photo?

Your uploaded photo is deleted within 24 hours. Rendered previews are kept by our image provider for up to 14 days, then deleted. Nothing is ever used to train a model.

Does it work for women and for receding hairlines?

Yes. It keeps your real hairline, so a receding or thinning crown shows as it would after a real cut.

Which guard should I start with?

Most first-timers pick #2 or #4. Render both and compare. You can always go shorter later, never longer.

Is there a subscription?

No. You buy a pack once and the credits never expire.
